Proposal: Studio Clash
Studio Clash has been established as a month-long design studio, in which 12 selected immigrants or asylum seeking creatives from all over the world work together in Basel, Switzerland. Under the slogan "United in Strangeness" the main objective of Studio Clash is to raise public awareness, create a network and establish a permanent representation for creative immigrants, refugees and supporters in the city.
Through the Clash of Visual Culture we gain experience together and work on new methods of collaboration, start-ups and formats. Across boarders of language, culture and design. Together we're looking for new ways to access our home market.
This is how we understand «united in strangerness». Studio Clash is politically independant, neutral and unaffiliated with any religion. We stand for a respectful collaboration and keep this position, whatever it takes.
November will be the starting point for this experiment. Together with immigrants, creative player national and international, we work on how we could set up a networt, a representation and formats of collaboration. For this work, we developed Workshop-Formats, Designsprints and other methods to gain creative knowledge and a clear positioning of this project in Basel and the trinational area. Together with our partner TagesWoche, Radio X and everpress as well as page, designreport and hochparterre we will keep up telling the ongoing story of Studio Clash.
Behind the project are the Basel based creatives Benjamin Kniel, David Herrmann, Hans-Jörg Walter and Jan Knopp. But the team is growing. Meret Burkhalter, Felix Michel and Giacomo Equizi will join us soon. As well as lot of others allready contributing to our project: Claudiabasel, Claudia Comte, Cynthia Kittler, Diana Pfammatter, Eddie Hara, Klinch x Piet, Mathias Forbach, Olga Borda, Olivier Rossel, Sucuk & Bratwurst, 2erPack Studios, 4000.
Since we are not funded by any foundation, state or association because of our narrow timetable (we weren’t able to apply 3 month in advance), we are in deep hope to get your support.
